Spray-On Paving & Resealing

Concrete resurfacing is designed to create a decorative finish on existing concrete surfaces.

Spray-on Paving

Resurfacing is a flexible and cost effective option for transforming your existing concrete surfaces to a designer finish. With a range of customisable colours, patterns and finishes to choose from, you can rejuvenate old, tired, grey concrete for a fraction of the cost of concrete removal and replacement. Resurfacing is ideal for restoring tired looking concrete areas, driveways and paths, or complementing your new space with a fresh contemporary look.

Dulux Avista’s resurfacing system is a spray on or trowel applied cement based compound around 3mm thick which bonds to existing concrete and provides a durable and abrasion resistant textured finish. The concrete being resurfaced must be structurally sound and be at least 28 days old. There are a variety of colours and patterns available including the fleck spray which allows you to customise the colour and finish to suit your home.

Concrete resurfacing is designed to create a decorative finish on existing concrete surfaces. Our spray on resurface coatings bond rigidly to existing suitable concrete surfaces and help create a slip resistant, textured, decorative surface with excellent durability and abrasion resistance.

Whether you are looking for a new look or a complete home makeover, you can transform your existing concrete slab and express your individual style using our concrete resurfacing products.

Designed to spray over existing concrete, our range has a wide selection of contemporary colours and patterns available, allowing you to create the look you want and rejuvenate your existing concrete into a work of art. You can even incorporate custom graphics and logos to create a distinctive look for your home.

Spray on Paving Procedure

  • The concrete is assessed to determine the density, moisture content and structural integrity.
  • Dusty, weak or contaminated concrete is dustless diamond ground to ensure a clean and strong surface.
  • Any minor cracks are chased and filled with a polyurea flexible epoxy. Bigger cracks are ‘stitched’ by cutting slots into the concrete and inserting steel rods. These are fixed in place with an epoxy paste.
  • If the surface is still weak after the grinding process, a densifier is applied and then lightly ground.
  • All the concrete is then acid washed, high pressure cleaned and a primer is applied.
  • Painters plastic and masking tape is used to ensure all surrounding areas are protected from any over-spray.
  • Depending on the surface, a basecoat is either hand trowelled or sprayed. This will determine the colour of the grout lines and can be tinted to your liking.
  • If required, the stencil pattern and/or border is placed. Tile patterns can be of any size as these are laid by hand using filament tape.
  • 3 coats of avista by Parchem is then sprayed using a hopper gun. Any flecks or shading is then sprayed.
  • After removing all masking tape and plastic, and lifting any stencil, the whole area is swept and blown down.
  • 2 coats of  concrete sealer is then applied, unless a ureathane or water-based sealer is required.

Sealing

Concrete clear and colour sealing

sealing_beforeIt is recommended that ALL decorative concrete is cleaned and resealed every 2 years to maintain the look and lifespan of the surface. These surfaces include spray on concrete, wet stencilled concrete, stamped concrete and exposed concrete. We have variety of sealers for different surfaces and needs. Our solvent based acrylics includes a Primer, High Gloss, Matt, High Build and Sandstone Sealers. If odour is a concern, we also have a water based gloss sealer with low VOC. For a very tough, durable, high gloss, high resistant coating, we have our premium range of Single and Two Pack Polyurethanes.

If your concrete surface is beyond clear sealing, or if you’re just after a change, we can colour seal it to give it a new lease of life. This is very popular with stamped and exposed aggregate concrete, being a solid colour it does not show any of the existing surface colour. There is an unlimited range of colours as they can be custom made to order.

The answer is YES. This is done by using high strength levelling compounds, which is trowelled over the existing concrete. A diamond grind with one of our concrete grinders will ensure a perfect smooth surface in which to spray on.

We have 28 colours ranging from vibrant and contemporary colours through to more traditional colours
What designs can I have?
The possibilities are endless and include Blanket Coat, Tile Pattern, Crazy Pattern, Imitation Sandstone or Greyscale Design – all with or without a border.
Is the finished product slippery?
No, it has a textured finish so is perfect even around pools.
How long after new concrete is poured can the Spray-on Paving be applied?
Minimum 14 Days.
How do you treat cracks in concrete?
Cracks are ground out with a grinder to produce a “V” and a two-part structural epoxy is used to fill the crack.
What is the maintenance required?
We would recommend resealing every 2-3 years depending on the colour, traffic and exposure to elements.
What is the difference between Colour Seal and Clear Seal?
A Colour Seal is a coloured coating which changes the colour of existing concrete. A Clear Seal is a clear protective coat applied over decorative concrete, exposed aggregate or honed concrete (with a non-slip additive).
