CONDEC offer three main options for your consideration:

 Epoxy Flake Floor System

Once the concrete is adequately prepared, a base coat is applied to the concrete. Next, a layer of coloured flake is applied and finally a UV Stable, chemical resistant top coat. The flake provides not only interesting colours but also creates a slightly rough surface that resists slips and falls. Most popular in garages but also ideal for use in commercial kitchens, locker rooms, sports venues, automotive showrooms, veterinarian clinics and laundromats and are available in an endless variety of color-styles, textures, sizes and blending options. You can even create your own!

Epoxy Flake Flooring Procedure

  • The floor is assessed to determine density, moisture and integrity.
  • expoxy_procedureAny existing coatings are removed by dustless grinding with PCD’s are aggressive arrow head segments.
  • A 30/40 grit diamond is then used to remove visible scratches.
  • If moisture is detected above 5% by using a moisture meter, a moisture barrier is applied using an airless sprayer.
  • If the surface is weak and porous after the grinding process, a liquid densifier is applied.
  • All holes, cracks and chips are filled with a fine filler product.
  • Skirting boards are masked up with painters low stick tape.
  • A primer is applied using a low nap roller. This coat seals off the concrete and allows the base coat to stay wet without penetrating into the surface.
  • A base coat of 100% tinted solid epoxy is applied. This is squeegeed, rolled and then back-rolled to ensure distribution of product.
  • The flake is then broadcasted over the wet epoxy and then dry back-rolled.
  • The floor is the scraped, mechanically sanded and vacuumed to remove any excess flake.
  • The topcoat of U.V stable clear epoxy is then applied to enhance and protect the flake.

    Solid Colour Epoxy System

    A single colour is applied to the surface.  Epoxy dries to a high gloss shine and is available in a variety of colours, textures and applications such as solid colours and decorative additives that can beautify a variety of environments.  Please see our colour chart below.

    Metallic Epoxy System

    Metallic Epoxy is a three-dimensional metallic epoxy system designed to create elegant and exotic looking seamless floors. Ideal for residential use, retail stores, office spaces, lobby areas, tattoo parlours, barber shops, hair salons, restaurants, clothing stores, casinos and showroom floors.  Metallic epoxy floor coatings create an exotic look for a floor, adding gloss, depth of colour and visual effect.  If you want that ‘wow’ factor, then this is certainly the option for you – you would be surprised at just how cost effective this option is in comparison to tiles or polished wooden floors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Epoxy Floor?
An Epoxy Floor coating is a liquid resin combined with a hardening agent, applied in a variety of thicknesses over new or existing concrete, to create a decorative finish to the surface. The resin is either clear or very lightly coloured, and is odourless. When it is mixed with the hardener, a chemical reaction begins that transforms the resin into a strong, plastic-like surface.
Why should I choose an Epoxy Floor?
There are many reasons, but here are a few:

* Environmentally friendly

* Non-porous and resist spills, stains and chemical etching

* Easy to clean

* Safe – they are slip resistant and fire resistant

* Impact resistant for improved durability – perfect for warehouse floors

* Very affordable

Why do I need Epoxy on my Garage Floor?
Unprotected concrete floors will wear and be stained by oils and fluids.  An Epoxy Floor protects the concrete from wear because it is more durable than the concrete itself, and actually stronger. Epoxy Floors provide a hard durable finish that is so dense that oils and fluids cannot penetrate its surface to soak in and cause staining.
Does Epoxy give off any harmful vapors or odors?

CONDEC Flooring System has no V.O.C.s (Volatile Organic Compounds) or other harmful odours. It is very safe to use in any indoor applications.

Can you fix cracks and holes in the concrete surface with Epoxy?
Our product is self-levelling however we always fill major cracks and holes with a suitable filler.
Can I put Epoxy over pre-existing paints, other coatings, tiles or timber?
Epoxy is not recommended for application over existing coatings because the existing coating will inhibit bonding of the Epoxy coating to the concrete floor. We ensure that all coatings are removed completely by diamond grinding.
Can you apply a non-slip finish to Epoxy Floors?
Yes.  Depending on your requirements we can include a variety of non-slip additives that conform to AS/NZS 4586 where required, and can even arrange a Slip Test with a NATA Accredited Report and Certification.
Will Epoxy Floors scratch?
Yes, Epoxy can be scratched if extremely heavy objects are dragged across its surface.  We always recommend a Clear Top Coat of Polyurethane or Polyaspartic, if you require a more durable finish.
How long will it last?
Depending on the product used, and the amount of foot/vehicular traffic the floor is subject to, and whether it is applied for Residential or Commercial use will greatly affect the longevity. This can be advised for each particular application, and in most instances a regular maintenance procedure will need to be put in place to ensure the longevity of the surface.
How long does a typical installation take?
Depending on the coating system used and the size, most installations are completed in 1 to 3 days
