Spraycrete Design Ideas to Boost Street Appeal on A Budget

From Gavin, Owner of Condec

If you’ve got an old, stained or cracked driveway, it can make your whole place feel tired — no matter how nice the rest of the house looks. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to rip it out to give it a serious facelift

I’ve worked on hundreds of driveways and paths across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Tweed and Northern NSW using spraycrete (also called spray-on concrete), and honestly, the transformation still surprises people — especially for the price.

Whether you’re prepping to sell, updating a rental, or just want to lift your kerb appeal, here are some spraycrete design ideas that’ll boost your street appeal without blowing the budget

1. Add Texture with Stencils and Borders

The best thing about spraycrete? It’s incredibly customisable. With a few clever design touches, you can turn plain concrete into something that looks high-end for half the cost.

Some popular ideas we use:

  • Cobblestone or brick-look stencils for a classic style
  • Ashlar or tile patterns for a more modern look
  • Contrasting borders or bands around the edges to frame your driveway
  • Diamond or square tile effects for patios and entries

Stencilled spraycrete works especially well in older homes where you want to add charm — or to mimic the look of stone without the price tag.

2. Choose Colours That Stay Cool Underfoot

Here in QLD, the last thing you want is a driveway or patio that burns your feet come summer. So when we’re resurfacing with spraycrete, I always recommend light, UV-reflective colours — especially if you’re planning to use the area barefoot.

Top heat-reflective colours we use:

  • Light greys
  • Beige or sandstone tones
  • Soft whites or off-whites
  • Cool blues or charcoal blends

We also use anti-slip additives in all exposed areas, so you’re not trading comfort for safety — especially around pools or sloped driveways.

3. Make a Big Impact in a Small Front Yard

Don’t have a grand entrance or wide driveway? No worries — spraycrete works brilliantly in tight spaces too

Some tricks we use to maximise impact:

  • Diagonal or diamond patterns to draw the eye and make space feel larger
  • Border designs to create structure and break up plain areas
  • Using two complementary tones (like a light base and dark border) for depth
  • Wrapping around garden beds or entry steps to tie everything together

You’d be surprised what a few design tweaks can do — even a 1.5m-wide footpath can look completely different with the right colour and stencil combo.

4. Before-and-After Inspiration That Speaks for Itself

One of my favourite parts of this job is seeing the look on a customer’s face when they see the before-and-after. We’ve turned:

  • A crumbling, 20-year-old driveway in Nerang into a clean, modern entrance with charcoal spraycrete and white borders
  • A faded beige patio in Coolangatta into a Mediterranean-style outdoor space using terracotta tones and a tile pattern
  • A dull carport in Murwillumbah into a sleek, stencilled floor that matched the home’s new façade

All without touching the existing slab — just prep, spray, stencil, seal

If you’re not sure what would suit your place, I’m happy to show you real examples from local homes we’ve worked on.

Final Thoughts

Spraycrete is one of the smartest ways to lift your home’s look, increase its value, and extend the life of your concrete — all for a fraction of what full replacement would cost.

And because we’re based locally, we know what designs work for Queensland homes, what materials hold up in our climate, and how to deliver a finish that looks great and lasts.
